David Vernon For over two decades David has operated his business in Tauranga, one of the most beautiful parts of New Zealand. His interest in photography stemmed from childhood days in England. With a fascination in aircraft, he borrowed his sister's box brownie camera to take on a school trip to an RAF base where his first images were captured. Smitten with the bug, he wanted to produce better photographs. Borrowing his father's Voitlander camera, David spent hours at Heathrow airport taking everything that came into view. Realizing he needed a camera with interchangeable lens he saved his money and collected an arsenal of equipment that would give the desired results. Nothing was safe. Taking beautiful photographs became his desire, David's attention to landscapes and people expanded his horizons.

David's interest in photography continued as a hobby following his departure from school to take up a career in banking, however, a change of direction took place when a young kiwi girl called Tricia came into his life. In July 1975 they married and life in New Zealand followed. Positions in banks were hard to obtain so David fell back on his hobby of photography and found employment in a photographic retail shop. A few years later the opportunity came to work in a local photographic studio and so the hobby became vocation.

In 1984, following a short return to the UK to show off their two children (Matthew and Sophie) to family, David opened his own studio in Tauranga. Concentrating on weddings and family portraits the business grew and an occasional commercial client started to request his services. It was following a move to a residential location that another decision was made. Commercial work had continued to grow to the point where it required more time than was available and so wedding and portrait photography was discontinued. This decision was made because of David's belief that when someone requests the services of a photographer they should not get a stand-in due to over commitment. 2003 saw a further advancement in technology with the introduction of high quality digital images with the latest Canon 1Ds. This high-end quality equipment is now the predominant tool of choice both for David and his commercial clients who demand quality images to promote their businesses.
